Introducing APOLLO consortium member - Metran Rohstoff-Aufbereitungs GmbH.

Metran Rohstoff-Aufbereitungs GmbH is a non-ferrous metals recycling company of Müller-Guttenbrunn in Austria. Metran is a family-owned recycling company based in Austria with subsidiaries in Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary, and Romania.

They are focusing on recovering raw materials from End-of-Life Vehicles and WEEE (Waste of Electric and Electronic Equipment). The recovered secondary raw materials (iron, aluminum, stainless, copper, ...) are used again at specialized smelters.  

The recycled plastics (PP, ABS, PS, PC/ABS) from Small Domestic Appliances are REACH and RoHS compliant and are used in new electronic products like coffee machines.  

The group recycles some 850 000 Metric Tons and by doing so the Group saves some 1 million Metric Tons of CO2 emissions. 

In the APOLLO project, Metran Rohstoff-Aufbereitungs GmbH is responsible for:

  • Collection of End-of-Life Photovoltaic modules. 

  • Shredding and recovering material from PV modules (Aluminum, glass, plastics, precious metals).

  • Internal analysis (hand sorting, XRF spectrometer, XRF handheld, Near Infrared spetrometer).  

  • Support in designing the demonstrator recycling line.
