APOLLO Featured in the EEI Magazine
The European Energy Innovation magazine, a quarterly publication for energy, transport, and sustainability stakeholders, features the APOLLO project in its Spring 2025 issue. The article, titled "APOLLO: Reaching new heights in solar recycling," written by our colleagues at FENIX TNT, delves into the project's motivation, research and goals for the solar sector.
The global PV industry generated approximately 400,000 tonnes of waste in 2020, a figure projected to rise to 5.5 million tonnes annually by 2050. By that time, millions of tonnes of raw materials will be locked up in end-of-life (EOL) PV modules. Faced with the increasing volume of EOL PV modules and the limitations of current recycling methods, APOLLO is developing innovative strategies to recover valuable materials and promote a circular economy for the PV sector. This includes advanced material separation, efficient resource extraction, and the development of a digital platform for lifecycle tracking. To learn more about APOLLO’s comprehensive approach and the specific technologies being developed, read the full article in the Spring 2025 issue of European Energy Innovation Magazine.
