Bittner Umwelttechnik GmbH

Introducing APOLLO consortium member - BIT - Bittner Umwelttechnik GmbH.

Bittner Umwelttechnik GmbH, founded in 1995, initially operated solely as a broker of waste materials, which then evolved into a versatile and innovative enterprise over the years.

The utilization of waste and by-products, their processing, and their return to the recycling economy represent significant contributions to environmental protection, as they reduce resource consumption and energy usage. From an economic standpoint, BIT solutions also offer benefits to both suppliers and customers alike.

In 2013, BIT founded Rec53 GmbH and commenced operations at an industrial-scale plant dedicated to the recovery of the element iodine. To date, only a few facilities in Europe have addressed this issue. Through various pre-treatment steps, BIT can process various types of waste containing iodine.

In the APOLLO project, BIT will close the recycling loop for new Perovskite-based solar cells by delivering precursor compounds for the production of new perovskite material.
